My practice is intended to encapsulate the immediacy of my initial relationship to a place. This manifests in a diverse amalgamation of imagery and anecdotal compositions littered with optimistic, humorous and profoundly nostalgic musings.

Erasmus Exchange to Haute école des arts du rhin Strasbourg (September 2016- January 2017)

I was selected through an application process (comprising of a written statement and submission of my portfolio of work) to partake in an exchange to Strasbourg to study on their Painting course. I was expected to sort my own accommodation and to immerse myself in the French culture. As such I enrolled myself on a French Language course two evenings a week at the Université populaire.

Internship in the Ventures Department of John Lewis (22-26 October 2018)

The internship was an opportunity to experience how the department facilitates and constructs new projects and experiences for the Partnership. With a specific focus on how the design team support the development of these projects and how market research is executed to aide their process and innovative stance on the market. I was set an illustrative task for the week for a forthcoming project the department were researching. I also had to solve a web design issue for the Cookwell website. This involved researching the website, brainstorming issues and then mocking up paper prototypes that showed how the design issue could be resolved.

Edinburgh College of Art Degree show invigilator (June 2017)

Aiding visitors to the degree show by providing directions and information, utilising my knowledge of the art college to benefit visitors experience.

Gallery invigilator at Inverleith House, Botanical Gardens Edinburgh, for the Raoul de Keyser Exhibition (February-April 2015)

My role involved assisting members of the public with any enquiries and questions related to the exhibition whilst also preventing damage to the works of art. For this I had to have extensive knowledge of the Raoul De Keyser’s artistic background and the works on display in the exhibition.

Waitress at Blonde Restaurant Edinburgh (June 2018 – Present)

 

Waitrose Sunningdale Ambient and Fresh shop assistant (August 2012-December 2017)

·      Using my knowledge of Waitrose products and store layout to assist customers.

·      Executing a high level of customer service which went beyond customer expectations Thus fulfilling the in-store experience which Waitrose customers are accustomed to.

·      Managing stock levels, replenishing shelves, and completing stock rotation.

·      I worked part-time for three years (2012-2014), I then returned during the subsequent Summer and Christmas periods working full time (2014-2017).

Environmental Services, Legoland Windsor (April-August 2012)

I was involved with the early morning cleaning department with the primary task of cleaning the food and shop outlets in the park.

Personal Notes

I am an avid sportswoman, having played football from a young age for local clubs and at university. I am a keen runner and have completed a ½ marathon. I took part in a charity hitchhike to Paris in my first year at university, raising money for the charity Sarah’s Spirit which helps disadvantaged children. Then in the following year I helped assist with the organisation of the next hitchhike. In 2012 I completed a sponsored tall ships voyage across the English Channel. I was required to work as a crew member for a week alongside other students from across the UK. We were involved with the sailing, cleaning and general upkeep of the ship.
